Looking After the Local Aquarium Trade.
Who are we? As the owner of River N Rift Aquatics and avid fish breeder and keeper for more than 30 years I was fed up of only being able to find imported products. As a goal I set out to prove the Australian Aquarium Industry could stand alone with premium home grown products. These include not just fish but aquarium foods, buffers and other dry goods.
12 months ago I was introduced to Prestige Premium Aquarium Foods 100% Australian Made and Owned. I had been a long time user of an overseas brand which refused to supply my business with their foods. I hesitantly tried the Prestige brand as like many I was dubious about the affects on my fish after a 2 month trial I could not find any noticeable difference between this food and the so called self advertised best food on the market. But I did notice firstly less waste at water changes, still holding excellent colour and maintaining excellent breeding. I was then offered the Queensland distributorship of this food range. Now 18 months in I am still finding no difference in the results and I have deliberately fed this food exclusively to all my fish.
Also within this time frame I had the opportunity to test and trial Aqua-Pics buffers and treatments on my aquaria. In the past I either used natural methods of coral or shell grit, and another overseas product well used throughout the industry. To my surprise I did see major differences in my breeding, Firstly the activity of the fish increased, colour was better sustained and breeding not only increased in size but also percantage of grow out fry surviving. I have now taken on these products into Queensland as well.
I then set out to give my customers more a choice of products I have included a standard grade of foods once again Australian made as well as Australian made lights, medications and a full range of substrates. Also reptile, cat, dog and bird products.
I am now releasing hard to source products to the industry, including 100% Canadian Spaghnum peat, Bamboo logs and am always trying to source other hard to find products.
I have now turned my 30 plus year passion into a business that supplies quality products to your local aquarium store.
